The Humanitarian Coalition brings together leading aid organizations to provide Canadians with a simple and effective way to help during international humanitarian disasters. Their website is a Drupal website that helps communicate all their worthy causes to prospective donors. The website was migrated from Drupal 7 to Drupal 10.

Project objective

  • Maintain an efficient, functional and secure website.
  • Improve the ability of regular staff in creating complex content layouts.
  • Manage a major upgrade from Drupal 7 to Drupal 10.

Solution

Streamline the existing ad hoc website and ensure that all the functionality they need is retained

Freeform built a Drupal 10 website and created a migration script to import content from the old website. We maintained two versions of the website – staging and live – which the client and developers have access to. This allowed for changes and improvements to be reviewed and fully tested before being deployed. Once ready the new website was launched.

Improve the ability of regular staff in creating complex content layouts.

Once the new site was launched, Freeform set up Paragraphs to make it easier for staff to create multi-column content and blocks with pre-set styles that match the official stylesheet. This ensured that HC staff could directly edit content even after their in-house web developer left.
