Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW-ACTS) is a non-profit with a member-focused site built on Backdrop CMS and CiviCRM. CiviCRM is being used for mass mailing, and providing member-only access to content.
Their old site was on Drupal 7 which had an end-of-life. We could have chosen Drupal 10 but that seems overkill for their needs.
We chose Backdrop CMS as a good fit for the member site. Backdrop CMS is a fork of an early version of Drupal 8, back when it still looked a lot like Drupal 7. The philosophy of Backdrop CMS is quite different from Drupal; one that is focused on a different niche: that of small business and non-profits that don't have the cash and ambition of large organizations.
